To Hell with Dell...
Dell Complaints!
|
This is my blog against the Evils of Dell Computers.
Dell Case # 634-114-542
Dell Hell Hot Line 1-800-624-9896
In life it is sometime very hard to accept the incompetence
and downright irresponsibility of business practices used by
companies you would think would want to ensure return customers.
Alas Dell is not gunning for future returns from my experience.
I've had problems with my new dell since the day I got it,
screen not waking up after sleep, static in sound, then my hard
drive crashed.... Nothing to gripe about yet, these things can
and do happen to anyone. My phone call to Dell was met with
a slow process in a conversation that entailed a accent I struggled
to understand, but my return shipment for repair was scheduled
and I received a box from Dell to ship my computer in for repair.
Just under a week later I received a call from dell that
they had received my computer, completed there process and were
shipping it back to me. A couple of days later I received a
box 1/4 the size of my computer - this was not a good sign...
I opened it and there was a new hard drive? I contacted Dell
and was told that my computer was on the way and all I needed
to do was install the hard drive myself.
To this statement I was extremely irritated. My warranty
covers my computer to be repaired , not for me to repair my
computer myself.
When I got my computer I found that the old hard drive had
been removed, thrown in the box along with my computer and shipped
back to me, no hard drive caddy screws were present to reinstall
the new hard drive, and the old hard drive had put a black stain
on the orange lid of my computer. Now anyone who's anyone knows
that by now I have already spent more than 3 hours of my time
on the phone in this process, a blatant waste of my time...
So now I call Dell again and as always nothing can happen
fast, so I'm on the phone for another 30 minutes and told the
screws are being sent. Cool right? Not! I receive the package
and there is one (1) screw in it. Now I admit I'm not a patient
man but this is really testing my patience, I call them again
and tack on another 30 minutes of my time on the phone. I'm
told that all 4 screws are being sent - the correct number.
Now I never checked the first screw I received since I didn't
have all I needed to complete the job once I opened the computer
up. thus another issue. I received the next package with 8 screws
of one size and 4 screws of another size, none of which fit.
Now I've built two houses myself, rebuilt cars from the ground
up and disassembled a Dell D600 notebook down to nothing and
put it back together again, so I'm pretty handy.
My next conversation with dell was pitiful, Dell insisted
that those were the only screws they had as I continued to tell
them that the 8 screws they sent me were to screw the hard drive
caddy to the hard drive but I needed the screws to screw the
hard drive caddy into the computer, a different size screw.
I also explained to them that the other 4 screws they sent me
were too small and had a pan head that wouldn't fit any where.
So here's the conclusion Dip Shit Dell isn't competent enough
to send me the proper screws, so I removed a screw from the
bottom plate of another computer I had for parts that had the
right size screw - and now my hard drive is held in with one
screw. after more that 5 hours on the phone with Hell from Dell
I can tell you my next computer will not be a Dell.
Update: I emailed Dell Tech with a link to this blog and
low and behold, Dell sent the proper screws out to me. Now my
computer screen still doesn't wake from sleep mode periodically
and the black smudge is still on the top of my computer but
at least Dell did get me the screws.
Never the less it is still a unbelievable policy that Dell
ships anyone's computer back to them with the parts and says
fix it yourself.... Plus Dell will never be able to repay me
for my hours of bull on the phone with them, but I've got my
computer and it's working!
